Archer’s First Division 1 Athlete, Krysia Sikora, Signs with Duke

Brentwood – For elite high school athletes, signing a National Letter of Intent (NLI) is a day to always remember.  The NLI is a binding agreement between a student-athlete and a college to attend and compete for said college.  February 5th was that day for Archer’s Krysia Sikora, the first soccer player from Archer to sign a NLI with a NCAA division 1 program.

Sikora penned her name on the dotted line on campus in the historic Parlor Room with Archer Head of School, Upper School Head, Athletic Staff and soccer coaches on hand.  Sikora will line up as a collegiate student-athlete in Durham, North Carolina, where she will play for the Duke Blue Devils.

The three time all-league player and two time Archer soccer team MVP tore her ACL the opening game of this season, but has wasted no time in rehabilitating and is months ahead of schedule.  Duke was not deterred by the setback, they know the driven midfielder will be ready to go by next season.

Sikora excels not only on the pitch, where she also competes in the USA Olympic Development Program, but in the classroom as well.  The 2011 Archer Scholar-Athlete of the Year has also excelled in track for Archer; she was twice named MVP of the Delphic League.  The excitement for Sikora’s future is shared by the entire Archer community.
