1. Choose a leadership quote and in a short paragraph explain how it applies to your “style” of leadership and why.

Don’t waste your energy trying to educate or change opinions; go over, under, through, and opinions will change organically when you’re the boss. Or they won’t. Who cares? Do your thing, and don’t care if they like it” – Tina Fey.

I think that this quote applies to my “style” because I always make an effort to respect other people’s opinions rather than disregard them. I definitely agree that opinions will change organically and I think that is because when you persuade people and change their minds, they will be more open to your ideas. I also agree with not putting too much attention into caring what people think because at the end of the day; the only thing that matters it your opinion of yourself and how you feel about yourself. So if they don’t agree with you and your opinions, that’s ok because you believe them and that’s all that matters.

2. As a student council member, what important goals would you have for Student Council? For Archer?

My goals for Student Council is to be more connected with each other so that we’re a very close group of people and to make our role in our community more existent so that we not only benefit Archer, but reach out to other schools to further benefit them. My goals for Archer are: to create a more enthusiastic and inclusive space for people to feel more comfortable and included at school; create even more school spirit so that everyone at school are excited for everyday and always want to participate in every activity possible; and I also want to help people become more confident with themselves so that we have a confident, unique student body.

3. What are your plans for increasing school spirit and student participation at Archer?

My plans for increasing school spirit are having more student involvement in the activities planned. We could have a suggestion box that students can e-mail anytime they want something changed, added, or challenged. We could also increase school spirit by having certain people play music in the courtyard and different small activities that people could do to increase the school spirit. Another idea is having a pep rally so that we can increase our school spirit, while still supporting our fellow Archer sisters.

4. What role(s) do you think Student Council should play at Archer? Is Student Council currently fulfilling that role? If not, what changes do you propose to make it happen?

I think that Student Council should work as communicator between the teachers and the student body so that Archer can be as close-knit as possible. Also, the entire school will be able to satisfy the needs to everyone who contributes to the success of Archer. I think that Student Council is definitely doing well at communicating the student’s needs; however, I think that the teacher’s voice and the communication between the students and the teachers can be better. I think that some solutions are more town-hall meetings to get the students’ voices heard and the teachers and faculty also.

5. Why do you want to be on Student Council, really?

I think that Student Council is another place at Archer where I would fit. I think that I have a big voice in my community and I want to use it to my advantage to help others find their voice and share theirs also.
