On April 24, Archer students, parents, faculty and friends filled the Archer dining hall to enjoy the Spring Concert. Enchanting performances from an array of talented Archer girls made for a memorable occasion.
The evening opened with a performance of four songs from the Middle School Orchestra. Their amazing piece “Burst” by Brian Balmages filled the room with joy and excitement. Next, the Middle School Choir took the stage. These talented singers harmonized melodies and provided the audience with top performances of three songs.
The Upper School Quartet that followed proved to be just as gifted. Their “Brandenburg Concerto, No. 2” by J.S. Bach, arranged by Vernon Leidig, was an excellent and entertaining choice.
Archer’s a cappella group The Unaccompanied Minors were a stand-out. They performed creative mash-ups of ‘Somewhere Over This Wonderful World’ and ‘Think/Respect.'” The Upper School Choir sang ‘Circle of Life’ by Elton John and Tim Rice.
To close the evening, the combined Middle and Upper School choirs gave a great performance of “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Freddie Mercury, arranged by Maru Haughie. The Upper School Orchestra enthralled the audience with performances of “Danza Carnival” by Richard A. Stephan.
The all-school finale brought the evening to a close with a powerful rendition of “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, arranged by Mary Haughie and Susan Smith.
