Archer students and faculty all took part in a presentation on healthy relationships and boundaries led by Dr. Monica Applewhite on Tuesday, Mar. 1.

Applewhite holds a Master’s of Science in Social Work and a Ph.D. in Clinical Social Work, according to Park Dietz & Associates. She has worked on about 1,800 cases of abuse in various organizations and uses her knowledge to find the root cause of the crime.

During her presentation, teachers and students learned about the signs of an unhealthy relationship and how to set safe boundaries in both academic and personal settings.

Applewhite adjusted the subject matter of her presentation for audiences of different ages, leaving out some subject matter for the sixth-grade presentation that was in the 11th and 12th-grade presentation.

Senior Marcela Riddick said, “Her presentation definitely confirmed a lot of what we have been taught over the years, but some topics were more fresh. The new perspective on all the different types of controlling relationships was most interesting for me.”
