Food Blog: The New Cupcake—Cake Pops.

Cake pops are a delicious treat. They look like lollipops, but they taste like cake.  This is because cake pops are made from cake batter but eaten on a lollipop stick.

Originating in Europe, cake pops have recently increased in popularity because they are perfect for any occasion, simple to make and fun to decorate. A bite-size bit of cake coated in chocolate and stuck on a lollipop stick—what could be better?

There are many different ways to make cake pops; bakers can choose from a multitude of colors and decorations. Whether decorated in a solid color icing or in polka dots and sprinkles, cake pops are delicious.

If you are looking to buy cake pops, you will find that they are popping up everywhere. Just a Bite Cake Pops in Irvine is a shop only for the new phenomenon. It caters pops for events like weddings or birthdays. Even Starbucks sells cake pops. Though not as gourmet as Just a Bite, Starbucks‘ version on the popular treat is a delicious treat to complement a drink.

To make a cake pop, first you need to bake a cake, then mix in frosting and form little balls with your hands. Leave them in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.

Dip a lollipop stick in melted chocolate. Push the lollipop stick 2/3 into the cold cake pop and rest your pop in a piece of craft foam. For a more detailed explanation on how to make cake pops, check out this website.
